Alternative Gas Usage Areas
|
 |
Nowadays natural gas has become an indispensable fuel for industry. Fuel that is a substantial input in increasing conditions of competition has directed companies thar are active in sector towards fuel economy. On the other hand, within the markets we are going to enter by integration in EU we will face the effect of fuel on environment as a competition element as well as fuel economy. It is clear that natural gas undisputedly is the only gas for industry. Usage area of natural gas according to sectors is as follows:
Supplying Vapor by Natural Gas
Supplying vapor by natural gas; it may be used as a fuel in heating and refrigeration systems and generators as well as electric and thermal energy in cogeneration applications. Thermal energy of 90% may be possible by providing vapor and hot wt.

Cogeneration is used for producing combined electric and thermal energy from natural gas fuel. It is also produced vapor, hot water, drying air and boiling oil as well as electric needed for your plant. In a well-equipped plant it is possible to get thermal efficiency up to 90%.
Usage Areas:
- Vapor that is produced from these systems is used in the following areas:
- In jets at textile plants, fixe machins, heating building,
- Boiling oil supplied by waste heat, ramoz devices at textile plants.
- At veramic plants exhaust and flue gases direct ceramic processing,
- In automotive, at dyinghouses, heating building, process,
- At Cold air plants in refrigeration with absorption.
Natural gas in textile sector
In textile sector natural gas especially at textile dyinghouses is commonly used. Boilers in dyinghouses, in boiling oil boilers and in ram devices there is natural gas. As is known, fuel in textile dyinghouses is fuel-oil 6. Natural gas has advantages in comparison to fuel-oil 6, such as fuel economy up to 30-40% and positive effects on environment. In addition, continual change in quality gives rise to reducing in boilers efficiency, blockage in boil burners and accordingly labor loss relating to low quality.
Natural gas in ceramic sector
Fuel types that are used in ceramic sector in order to reach product quality required this day are the gas origine fuels. Although LPG appeared as an alternative fuel natural gas has never lost its image in the sector as it is cheaper fourfold than others. Thermal efficiency can be increased by benefitting from the heat of flue gases that are waste from natural gas burning.
Natural Gas in automotive sector
Natural gas is used in automotive industry in heating, dyeing and in supplying process vapor. In addition, it is the appropriate fuel for heating larger spaces.
Generators with dual fuel and natural gas
Natural gas can be used directly in generators as well as in diesel generators with a small change by mixing diesel fuel with natural gas.
In the plants using high speed diesel generators for 150 hours and over per year sets for transfering into dual fuel gives you comfort to use natural gas in diesel engine and reduce your electrical production cost jalf and half.
The system for transfering into dual fuel is cheap, gainful and repayable in shortest time. Instead of buying a new and expensive generator with gas engine use your generators with diesel engine in your hands. The systems for transferiing into dual fuel can be applicable to both low-speed diesel engine and high-speed diesel engine easily.
After mounting double fuel transferring system to diesel generators diesel oil or Fuel oil 6 will be used only for igniting natural gas.
Refrigerating with natural gas (with absorption)
Refrigerating system with absorption uses the heat produced by cogeneration system for refrigerating.
Advantages of the system:
- Probabilty of breaking down is low as parts number is lower than that of refrigerating groups.

- Small need for maintenanceç
- Noise level is lower on account of having fewer parts.
- Energy cost is low.
In the event of using a refrigerating group operating with electricity instead of refrigerating group with absorption electrical energy to be consumed will be highly nuch. Repay of the investment is changed in a time of 1-3 years depending on refrigeration load and whether the heat has alternative usage source or not. Particularly at hotels electric is produced by cogeneration. At the same time using waste heat in refrigeration by chiller with absorption gives advantage to facilty trigeneration features and higher thermal efficiency. As a result, it may be said that in the regions having natural gas network, using of refrigeration systems supported by cogeneration at hotels, hospitals, malls, cold storages is a profitable investment.
Radiant Systems
Devices with high-density may be divided into two groups: There is a volume supplying heating in the devices of the first group. Outer surface temperature of the volume is about 1000°C. Many of electrical appliances used for heating are radiant systems with high-density in the first group.
As an example we may give Quartz heating system. In this system radiation is realized through quartz bulb or heating of the resistence passing through a pipe by electricity that takes on a yellow-white color.

The most important disadvantage electrical radiant heaters in our country is the high cost of electricity. In the devices with high density in the second group radiation is supplied by flame. Combustion is realized on the front surface of a perforated ceramic panel. In this event surface temperature is about 1000°C. Spaces effectid by naked flames must be aired efficiently. Devices with high-density are particularly appropriate for spot or local heating in larger spaces.
Advantages of the system:
- Economical according to the systems with hot air blast.
- Lower maintenance cost.
- Minute amount of electricity.
- Comfortable heating in short time.
- Easy mounting.
- It operates without dust, noise and air circulation.
- Aestitical. It is applical in various buildings.
- It occupies no place. No need for boiler room and personel.
- No need for flue construction. It is environment friendly.
- Lower investment cost.
