What is natural gas?
Natural gas is a combustible gas mixture that is formed by various carbonhydrates primarily methane (CH4) and Ethane (C2H6). It is colorless, odorless and lighter than air.
How Natural Gas is formed ?
Natural gas is formed in deeper layers of the Earth in result of natural conversion that lasts for millions of years. It can be used in the case that is supplied by its source without any processing.
Why does natural gas smell bad ?
Natural gas that is odorless in natural case is added by an odorizer in order to come easily to user’s attention when a gas leakage is occured. The natural gas that is given to Kocaeli network is added with THT (Tetra Hydro Theophan) and TBT (Tetra Butyl Mercoptan) of rotten garlic odor.
How Natural Gas is Burned?

Is natural gas a poisoning gas?
Most of gases may cause poisoning. Carbonmonoxyde (CO) is the main factor of poisoning. Oxygen in the blood is replaced by carbonmonoxyde and the blood is become enable to carry oxygen to cells and poisonig is occured. Natural gas is not poisoning on account of being not a substance including carbonmonoxyde. Notwithstanding, as it is lighter than air gathered in the upper side in case of leakage in closed space. When much gas is gathered it may give rise to asphyxiate on account of reducing oxygen. Therefore, the spaces where natural gas is used must be necessarily aired.
Is natural gas a safe fuel?
As long as it is used properly natural gas is not dangerous. İZGAZ takes all measures in order to convey natural gas safely to subscribers.
Why natural gas is a clean energy?
Natural gas is a clean gas. When it is burned any ash, carbonmonoxyde and sylphur compounds are develpped and gives no rise to any acid rain in environment. Only carbondioxyde and water vapour is developped. On the other hand, nitrogen oxyde emission is lesser than that of other fuels.
What are the Usage areas of natural gas in housings?
In houses natural gas is used primarily fort he following purposes:
- Heating and cooling
- Supplying hot water
- Cooking.
Natural gas may be supplied to buildings with central heating system for purposes of hot water and cooking by column line. The following may come to the fore in individual usage:
- Only for heating /natural gas stove, room heater),
- For heating and supplying hot water (combi, room heater with boilers, room heater and geyser)
- For heating and cooking and supplying hot water.
What are the usage areas of natural gas in industry?
Natural gas is used in workshops and furnace for production. It is also used In Iron-steel, cement and chemistry industries. Natural gas is a substantial source for textile industry as well as it is used in glass and brick manufacture. A large extent of electric need of Turkey is met by power plants operated by natural gas.
Why natural gas is more efficient than the other fuels?

- The cost of natural gas is paid after usage, it does not require payment beforehand.
- It is easily defined how muc gas is consumed thanks to meters mounted to each flats.
- Natural gas devices meet every kind of needs, they can be easily settled.
What are the advantages of using natural gas?
In systems with natural gas fuel loss is fewer on account of controlling combustion sensitively.

Where natural gas is stored?
Natural gas is stored in tanks by liquidating, in compressed steel stores or natural spaces and spongy layers in underground under pressure.
Underground lakes and brooks: Natural gas is injected into underground lakes and brooks with pressure and water is taken out. Underground lake must be surrounded by a clay layer endurable to compression of gas.
Underground rocksalt deposits: Solubility of salt is ensured by injecting water and it is taken out, space is stored by natural gas under pressure.
Artificial spaces in underground: This kind of spaces are open by mining techniques in rocky areas (in ynderground layers composed of substances such as granite, cyanite, mica, chalk, dolomite). It is used where other natural gas possibilities are limited on account of being expensive. It is generally preferred for liquid fuels as supplying sealing for gas is rather expensive.
Abandoned mines: Mineing fields that has alredy lost its functions may be used if they supply isolation and seal.
Natural gas and oil fields that have already lost their functions: This is the most preferred staorage way for natural gas. At the same time it is the most economical. In some cases even the oil and gas fields that have not lost functions yet can be stores for natural gas by injecting natural gas outside while production is made.

What are central heating and individual heating?
Central heating is a heating system by which all building is heated by boiler system.
Individual heating is a heating system by which building is heated by combi boiler and stove.

What is subscription connection price? How and where payment is made?
- Subscription connection price is the rate that is defined in the frame of natural gas regulations and is collected for one time only as non-returnable
- Subscription connection price is composed of connection and meter prices.
- Meters are owned by distribution company and is integrated into system without receiving any price exempt of subscription connection price. Mounting, changing, controlling and similar processes in regard with meters are realized by distribution company.
At housings for purpose of heating:
1 BBS up to 200 m2, 1 BBS for each 100 m2 after 200 m2)
Subscription Connection Price = Connection Price + Meter Price
At the places where goods and services are produced (individual)
Subscription connection price is composed of service line price + meter price + 10% profit margin. (VAT is not included).
At the places where goods and services are produced (not individual)
1 BBS up to 200 m2, 1 BBS for each 100 m2 after 200 m2)
Subscription Connection Price = Connection Price + Meter Price

What is “gas usage contract”?
It is a contract for gas usage that is made after subscription transaction and the installment Project drawn by certified company is approved by İZGAZ .

What is security deposit? How payment is made?
- Security price (deposit) is the price received by İZGAZ for mechanical meters –except for pre-paid meters- in order to guarantee debts.
- Security price is received both in advance and installment. Whey you leave the place where you have used gas your invoice debt –if ever- is collected and the remain is returned by updating according to the monthly change rates at the General Index of Consumers’ Prices after the annulment processes are over.

Gas usage is possible after contract is made?
For starting gas usage gas opening has to made by the authorized engineers of İZGAZ after having been made of “Natural Gas Usage Contracr”.
You can learn the appointment day from the certified company. Otherwise you will have used gas improperly and you will be subject to penal sanctoing.

By any means you will be held responsible for improper usage by İZGAZ and you will be subject to penal sanctoning.
When gas opening is made?
For “gas opening process” hat is the last transaction before usage your certified company has to apply to İZGAZ for having appointment.
Gas is opened at appointment date after conformity control is made by İZGAZ authorized engineer.
What can be done to use gas again at a place where natural gas has already been used?
When you want to use gas again at a place where natural gas has alredy been used you have to apply to İZGAZ centers to make a new contract.
